Summer very hard to get a good fast on

Summer lots of fun but hard to fast. Great bbq and parties everywhere. 80 percent of fasting is learning to live on food so the fast works.
Summer seems to be about maintenance i dont have a good party hack yet my best seems to be an atkins methodology. It just gets me by.

I am currently fasting one day when i can if it works out i go more. The one day fasts keep me in check and i notice it is easier to start a fast when you know its just one day. Its kinda like the diet in diet out plan you can do anything for 1 day.

Im not loosing any weight but i am having fun. So its a trade off. I am hoping once we are into summer i can start making better choices but for now i am happy to live on food until i need to put it back under control

Day 3 of my current fast

I was on food for 10 days i found i leveled out at about 10 pounds of weight gain this is the second time this has happened so i figure if i want to hold 210 as a final weight i need to hit 200 on fast and then i should be able to hold 210

For the fast i switched off gatorade and built mu own version. I have had that minor headache the whole time again just like on the clamato.

I started looking at the master cleanse diet and i think it is close to what i am doing its kinda between water fasting and juice fasting. They have a very simple drink so inam going to try it next. If i get rid of the headaches i know i am on the right track.

I am looking for something other tgan gatorade for 3 reasons. Know whats in it - cheaper- availabilty. I can only find the g2 not the orginal anymore

Suns fimally out over here. I have added fun exercise to my day. Im tired of working on everything. So i do about 3 little projects each day and then spend avfew hours casually walking biking or swimming in the nieghborhood. If someone is in their yard i stop and talk. Im meeting the neighbors finally. Kinda fun.

New game

Hey i have a new game i call it replacement / or switcher

Each time you go to the grocery store you replace something you like that has no nutrtional value. With something that does.
Example. Apple instead of a bag of chettos


Here are some hintz. Take that applle and make something really good out of it but not cooked Eventually apply the blending game and keep getting closer to something really healthy and whole

I switched from chips to dried fruit. Now i am tring to get off that and real foods raw. An apple for instance. It takes a while to be happy about these decisions but it seems to be working. It another form of blending i think

Line in the sand

Ok i am trying to live outside my dasting but i miss drinking and eating bread once in a while. So i think to hold my weight i am going to have to draw a line in the sand and say over it you fast. Under it you keep food

So today i am giving myself one more pound of margin. If i use it i will be fasting until i am below it again. Im calling this fast maintenace fast. I will be the amount of time it takes to get below the line in the sand by 3 pounds Then i can try To eat better again

Notes

Start a fast after your favorite meal. It was hard to start before dinner because i really like dinner foods. It was easy to start by skipping breakfast i never really cared about breakfast.

My hope was to find the timing based on the time of day but really when i am on food i just want that last meal satisfaction. So i will keep working on it.

100 days

248 freakin pounds. Lost 51 pounds in 100 days.

78 hours of fasting

Im coming out now. I switched back to clamato and got back those mikd headaches and shakeyness Gatorade is a clear winner for fasting i think.

Im at a new low. I cant say this sin wave style fasting is working perfect but it is working. I got back tge pizza and beer day and have a new low. It was a 9.5 pound change over 78 hours. So the start up cycle for me is 3# 3# 2#'s if i only gain back 3 pounds or less over the weekend i should have some real numbers next week

Low carb Taco shell pizzas for me from now on. :). Im thinking those breakfast pizzas made like you olive oil taco shells in the oven

Make shell in oven
Take out make pizza
Heat pizza
Make 4 small slices

This will probably be my next pizza along with a low carb beer :)

Fasting since tuesday

Well i have recovered from my pizza pasta bread and beer day. I am back to my low of 256 this morning. I am loving the gatorade on the fast by far tge best suppliment yet. No refrigeration needed easy to blend you always have a water bottle if you need it. I just use dry mix and keep a stock of regular gatorade in the fridge and blend it at about 20-25 percent ocassionsly if i am feeling the need. Same is done at work. It comes out to about 10 oz of regular gatorade a day this doesnt seem to effect the fast but my systems are running fairly strong and quick. I occasionaly toss in a teaspon of salt in my water as well

My tingling nerves seem to comecand go. They run almost opposite of my ringing ears. Im am starting to think these are caused just before i convert more fat to energy. So i am just living with it as it comes and goes. Its not bad just annoying

This fast will end friday morning it will be a juice day for the most part. I set this fast up to end a little deeper into the week thursday lunch seemed like a stupid time to come out. I seem to be releasing fat all day my stomach is soft when i go to bed and i havent dropped much weight but by morning my loose fat is way less and my weight drops alot. So i am thinking shirt fasts that start with sleep and end after sleep.

Next week i am going to adjust the start to monday at 6 pm instead of 11 pm to see if i can sleep through a little more of the hard parts of the first 24 hours.

gatorade a new trick

I have been trying to stabilize for the past 25 days.  my heart rate was slow 43bpm, i use a cool iphone app to monitor it now.  my nervous system was on fire and tingling and i picked up some tinitus or ringing in my ears.  in the end it seems like i had an electrolyte imbalance. Salt water seemed to help a lot.

eventually Gatorade seemed to be the best answer. It's probably not what the healthy people would recommend but i am into what works.

I am 55 hours into my latest fast i feel good except for some minor ear ringing and nerve tingles.  I have been drinking a little salt water and a little gatorade each day.  I don't seem to want food after gatorade especially if it is blended at about 25% with water.  With juice i always had to work with it as i left the house or places where i could stop the intake like at bed time. I am going to hit my 60 hour goal shortly i just wanted a nice short productive fast to move myself to a new level. I am going to up my intake of gatorade as i com out just to see what that will do for my ringing ears and tinging nerves.

i was afraid to fast again because i had not come out very well last time.  i decided to go back in just to see if it would help me reset. Bottom line is I have fewer issues in the fast than out of it.  If i can get the electrolyte imbalance worked out I think I can go for long fasts again.

fasting has allowed me the freedom to change some long term habits fairly easily. This definitely a great tool to use to get control back into a system that has none.

51 hours in on my lastest fast



Okay I just lost my First email on my mac in 10 years. I am pissed. It was 3 whole paragraphs of great data. lucky you you get the short fomat.

51 hour fast - 21 hours sleeping lost 7 pounds -  .23333 pounds per waking hour.  thats a mcdonalds quarter pounder and hour.

Easiest fast yet. what works -  about an ounce of clamato just before bed.  an ounce of grapefruit juice when I am feeling lightheaded.   One helps me sleep and when i take it right before bed I can't go freaking crazy eating everything.  The grapefruit I drink at work and I only take the one once to work with me.  I found i can have some flavor on the fast and not go crazy if I am in a position to limit the availability of more food.


I am not hungry.  I am only slightly dizzy this morning. Almost all of my little aches and pains are gone. I am 52 hours in running on 4 ounces of juice and noting crazy is going on other than some serious weight loss.   I haven't done any exercise to speak of, I buy a lot of shit on amazon, I learned to write down my research subjects or things I want to get done before my mind slows down so I could remember them o have something to do with my extra time. I don't singularly focus like when I am on catkins.  I think I bounce around a lot more like an airhead on the fast.  I figure it must be what skinny people feel like. :)

I am within 4 pounds of my second goal of 263.  I am not sure if I will make it on this fast but 51 hours ago I was 11 pounds from the goal.  So far the easiest winter I have had in a long time.

amazon rocks! I try tisane up my shopping lists  for during the fast so I have something to think about and do. I just ordered 48 cans of tuna fish. I think it's my new lunch at work.  I get more fish this way. It's in a portion controlled container. I can take 5 of them to work in my pocket and I net out about 40 dollars a week to the positive for doing it.  If i don' like the tuna I will take in a can vegetable or an egg.   I will know when I am out of control because I will be taking in all 3 everyday.

fasting again 36 hours

okay I have haven't touched base for a while on my weight loss.  I have been staying in a good zone for about 2 weeks. I have stabilized at around 274 #  I don't seem to be able to loose weight with what I am doing but I am not gaining either i anything I am on the low side most of the time now. I stopped the on and off at 6 pm fastingprogram. It just made me suffer and then eat to much.  I ended up being on a 19 hours on and 5 hours of eating each day (fast 5).  i think that was because I didn't like breakfast so I would eat light and then try to eat  a dinner before I had to go off for 24 hours.  So I was just doing weird things but the switch at a certain time was good. 

The 19 5 (fast 5) diet was actually pretty easy for me and I did start to lose some weight on it.  I noticed I would rush home to eat overnight.  So tat gave me a little more of a binge style of dieting.  That coupled with saturdays off and I thought it was not a good combination.  I started looking at eurpeon diets next.

Will the wine worked, 1-2 glass was actually quite nice and did not kill the weight lose.   turkey, vegetables and some red wine and I think I can lose weight.  I added cheese and nothing went the right way.  So far this is as close to constant weight loss as I have gotten.  I loose it at parties and have not found a method of control there other than not eating or drinking, not much of a party for me but it's cheaper than buying shit on amazon to keep me busy.

So if you think of a good way to survive parties let me know I will try it.  


So I decided that I never needed breakfast my whole life so I went back to skipping it. lunch is a great source of bread and carbs for me so I take a portion controlled cheap and easy can of vegetable to work now and maybe a hard boiled egg.  This is quick painless and requires almost no dishes or thought.  grab a ca on the way to the car. just make sure to have a fork and bowl at work. anymore i just eat the stuff straight from the can.  Wash the fork and your done.  This lite lunch gets me to dinner with out the binge cravings and saves money along with portion control. If i  slip up at work and someone has something good , I try to have a little and quite. It works most of the time at work, hardly ever at home. overall I have a lot less bread and carb opportunities at lunch which is my main bread and carb time for doing this. 

Dinner I just depends on what I have around and if I have to cook or not.  I still don't survive it well but I survive.  I tin I need to tighten up te window of food.  Say nothing but water after 9 pm again and I might have a good plan for me.    So it would look like this.  Nothing for breakfast. ( i still want to try oatmeal as a starter?)  luck comes in a can or some kinda cheap portion controlled no restaurant method.  i tried leftovers, they are to accessible and I eat them in the car or at my desk.  Cans keep me from accessing it easy ( just a big dumb bear I guess) food need to beside and secure if I am caring it around with me. Dinner starts with vegetables, a fiber supplement, water, anything raw and uncooked is better.  ( get filled up and start with the healthier stuff. ) then I try to have some  thing good and stop, I am mostly successful until I start snacking later.  I need to let the clock do my dinner time stop hard work and the saturdays off do my craving work and  hopefully I have found a place to live with some variety, flexibity and control.  I still have to write down my weight on the mirror everyday. Tracking it works.  I look at lie a business, It's hard to adjust if you don't know what is going on.  creativity comes when you don't track. control comes when you track.  I have had way to much creativity and far to little control.

Anyway I have been in the dieting and fasting mode for about 45 days now.  I used to fell thin at 275#'s  now I don't. So I am doing a 36 hour fast to get things going the right way again. I am going to try a little clamato at 24 hours to see if my blood sugar and sleep patterns are better. i am going to drink it right before I go to bed or work so I don't  have a chance to keep eating.  That my current plan.

Oh and I have a cool going out to dinner method now.  I simply let cobie order and split it.  I don't look at the menu anymore and it takes al the stress out of it. It's really like cobie cooked and the bill is half the price.  Portions are controlled better and it's kinda fun not knowing what your going to get. ( jsutlike home that way)

started fasting again

I just wanted to say it took me about 5 days after the last 5 day fast to feel normal on food again.   That last fast was the hardest one yet.  Yesterday I began my current fast. I wanted to do an eat stop eat plan but honestly the effort to get into a fast makes me think I should stay in it for at least 36 hours.

I usually start a fast after dinner. That way the first 8 hours are while I sleep. I have no problem skipping breakfast and lunch.  I start to really think about food around 3 pm or roughly at 18 hours i usually go into ketosis at about 20 hours so this is just my body starting to warn me that it is going to change something if i don't find some food.  the next 8 hours is the toughest part of day 1.  Next time  I am going to start after breakfast and see if the cycle starts easier than after dinner.  I may be able to sleep through the last 8 hours instead of the first 8 which would make day 1 simple. I would probably start off with a smaller entry meal also. I never eat as much for breakfast as i do for dinner.

I went to bed early to stop the need food thought process. I woke up early with no hunger pains and feeling thinner its always fun to see what your first day fast was worth in terms of weight reset. i won't call it loss because 20 hours of it you just burned what you had already eaten.

At 33 hours I have began the minor headaches section. Usually a glass or two of water is the cure. day two is usually the worst day of the fast. i just try to stay busy go out to a movie whatever it takes to think about something else. I know day 3 gets easier so it's just a push through it kind a day.

Made my first goal. Got a new one

277 pounds today. I can't decide if I want to stay on the fast one more day or not. It's been rougher than the other fasts but I feel relatively good today. Mentally slow and kinda weak but I could go another day at least.

I met my goal of 279 so I set a new one at 263. That was my starting weight at the Pud 11 years ago. When I get there it will make 51 pounds gone from my highest weight.

I plan to do go on the eat stop eat diet when I come off this fast.

Good day it was still easier than working out. :)

Day 4 after the superbowl

Wow it was a tough start to this fast I definitely don't want to start on one after a big party. Reduce the start the fast. It took me until the 4 th day to start feeling better.

I weighed in at 280 today finally below the pre superbowl numbers. I am 1 pound from my first goal of 279. Today looks like an easy day.

Day 1 of a fast you get stomach rumblings. That's just your stomach shrinking so those are good. Day two is the rough one. You feel lazy and your muscles hurt you just have to drink water and keep on it go to bed early if you have to. Go do something fun like a movie. Just power through it.
Day three you should be fairly week but gaining energy the headaches are from the detox in the fat burning going on. Enjoy them a little headach is easy to accept when you know the bad stuff is leaving.

Day 4 your body makes another run at food. Give it a small juice or something liquid to push through. Do it just before the end of the day. Just make sure you stop with a very small amount or you will loose the fast. Best way to stop eating Is to drink aloe Vera the stuff tastes so bad you would rather have nothing.

Day 4 I made a vitamin c aloe grapefruit juice fish oil drink for breakfast. C is fir the immune system. Aloe is for the skin. Fish oil is heart and inflammation grapefruit Is for potassium and brain the whole drink was about 2 ounces. Also I tossed in some metamucill about a half teaspoon. I followed this with 2 glasses of water well SE how this goes today.

Day 16

Decided to fast for the last 59 hours. It was a good call I am down to 284 and feel great. I could easily go more on the fast but I don't want to burn out and the superbowl parties are coming so I wanted to neon real food by Sunday.

Day 2 of the fast was hardest. Day 1 was nothing even the headaches and body acid aches were way less.

Looks like water fasting is about 3 pounds a day on average for me. The cool thing is how good food that I could not stand before is. Like prunes they were so sweet and good. I could stand to even eat one before. I started drinking vita water instead of water to come out of the fast. It even tasted sweet. I also had some clamato. It was super salty. Bottom line the more I understand the fasting processes the easier it is to do. Like stomach rumbling it's not hunger it habit and it's your stomach resizing. Good thing are happening when your stomach rumbles.

I am going to modify the slow carb diet to be more Atkins like but I do appreciate the beans so I am keeping them just less of them. I am going to do the eat stop eat plan with it next week and see how I do.

My energy has been great. My skin dried out a bit I am going to add some aloe Vera to my diet to help with that. You never have to worry about eating to much aloe it's probably the worst tasting thing ever.

I only 5 pounds from my first 20 pound goal. I am planning to enjoy Sunday and get back on track Monday.

New plan

Okay I have been on the slow carb diet for a couple of weeks. Here iscwhat I like. I like the day off concept it gave me some freedom and let me not think about food. I didn't lose any weight but I didnt gain any either. I was full all the time.

The bad was I eat to many carbs which prevents ketosis. I appreciate the slow carbs and kinda liked eating from cans. I didn't get to see the numbers fall so it didn't have great satisfaction. I felt weak occasionally and terrible occasionally. So I need to eat more vegetables fewer carbs and find a balance.

I noticed I eat for flavor if I put flavor on something I want more. So bland is good. Flavor the veggies!

I also noticed if I cook I eat more. I made a big pot of beans so I ate a large portion of the beans. So per canned carbs give me portion control. I'm also going to have Cobie make up the food in advance that should help keep me out of the kitchen. Oh bush brand beans are the best.

I'm also like the cannedvegtables but I am experimenting with frozen vegetables. Instead of cooking the frozen veggies I put them in a jar and rinse them off. Then fill the jar with water added a little salt. Then set it in the fridge. This way there is a big thing of vegetables ready all the time. I don't cook them so they are more nutritious and it keeps me from cooking. I think this and canned vegtables with a few cheap fresh vegetables should work for vegetables. I can always boil the frozen or refrigerated ones for some variety.

Today I was at 290 pounds I ate like a pig and felt horrible mist of the night it was all on the diet but wasn t good.

Anyway I am going to keep the slow carb diet focusing on vegetables. Less flavor and less cooking. The slow carb method is cheap and easy but I just can't get into a really good fat burn. I figure it's the carbs. Honestly I did way better on my short term fast


I am going to start adding a fasting cycle to the slow carb so we will see how it goes.

Day 6

Okay the fast was way better than this diet. I'm full and in pain all the time. The fast must have shrunk my stomach. I am constantly reevaluating how many meals I am going to get out of a can of green beans and a can of black beans. I tried to eat 4 oz of protien yesterday and laid around like I just ate a whole pizza.

So Ian going to up my green beans to half a can per meal, get my black beans to about 25 % of a can per meal and try to keep the protien at 4 oz per meal.

I used to think I couldn't eat 4 oz of protien and be totally freaking full.

No weight loss since the switch off the fast but I am holding at 290 so that's a good sign but my energy is way down I must be shifting gears or something.

Day 4 of the fast

290 pounds. Dam!

I made it all day. Then about 8 pm I had some v8 juice instead if my usual clamato. I thought it would be better as the clamato had a lot of sugar. Then I ate a hard boiled egg. That was what did it. I ate something.

I ended up eating about 4 ounces of smoked salty salmon. Yep protien and salt and I lost my whole day.

Anyway I could SE no problem fast 3 -5 days. Day 4 was easy I just should not have eaten kinda ruins a fast.

I started the 4 hour body diet this morning I have a plan let's see it work.
Still targeting 279 as the first goal. 11 pounds to go.

I will say one thing I was eating this morning and food with nothing on it tasted good and I was worried about getting full before I ate all the three things in the diet. I feel stuffed right now and I ate about a cup of food.

Conclusion - fasting is easier than dieting, I will do it again if I need a reset of my system. The detox and two day ketosis made me feel great. I wouldn't eat anything and I would make a fresh vegetable drink in the morning instead of store bought at night.

Since I eat what I want other than things that cause me pain like caffeine, red meat, and uncontrolled feasts I can only maintain a weight I cannot lose weight.  I am a technology worker and I don't move much. So I am fat.  In the last 10 years I have gained 50 pounds. I was never not fat.

The reason for change
Pain mostly- I am tired of the foot,hand,neck,face and left chest pain. I am tired of checkup that basically tell me i have exceeded my design parameters.  Messages work to manage the pain but my massage therapist died so I have not started with someone else. The pain is greatest in the winter when I stop moving around even more. I have decided that pain makes things harder for me to do. It makes me want to do less things. I don't do things because I am fat and it's more comfortable to not be uncomfortable so not doing is a trend and it makes me feel bad.  Bottom line this is a bad place and if I don't get myself out of it it will get worse.

I cannot control the volume of food I eat when I start eating.  The solution don't start eating. So i devided I have never not eaten for one whole day in my life."I wonder what would happen?"  My goal was to just not eat for one day.  A fast just to do it. So I skipped lunch I rarely eat breakfast anyway. After a few mental battles everything was relatively easy. so i skipped dinner and tried to stay busy as to not think about food.
Fast - day 2
Day one was painless and easy and I dropped my weight to 294.5 best I had done in years. So other than a minor headache in the morning (cured with water) I felt good so I kept going. I thought I should have a plan for when I stop fasting so I can keep a good thing going. I should also set a goal and tell people my goal. So I randomly picked 20 pounds as my first goal.  279 pounds would be a great start for the first month. I really didn't have a timeline but I know time is important so I added it later. Anyway day 2 had come and gone with out any effort at all. I decided to follow the four hour body book as my plan.

Fast - day 3
Day 3 started of hard to get up and out of bed but once I got moving it was a relatively easy day except for dinner time (I just powered through that because I wanted to see what my weight would be in the morning).  I was not hungry and weighed in at 292# . Ketosis had started I was burning fat my toxic yellow tongue was now white. I went for a bike ride to get my cheap 4hb food. I also cleaned out my pantry I didn't throw anything out except stuff I was never going to eat. I just wanted to know what all I had in the cupboards so I did't buy more of something I already had.  This was Just part of getting a plan together for when I came off the fast.

Fast - day 4
I started out with a headache again but not hunger at all. I only seem to get hungry when my wife is cooking or eating something. Must be like the carp in Hawaii that start to swarm for food when they hear the dinner bell. (pavlov) I am typing this now and I don't know if I am going to keep fasting or start the 4hb plan. I know I am curious what will happen if i just hold out one more day it's kinda like finding the line of diminishing return.  If I ever do this again I want to know what to expect. I also weighed in at 289 this morning so 10 pounds was pretty dam'd easy. I had not been able to get here in the last two years. I consider this fast just a jump start to a real plan. I also know what it feels like to just not eat and it's not a big deal for me. we'll see how today turns out.
